Description
‘Photo Sea View From Erice’ takes us to the summit of Mount Erice, 750 meters above the sea. This medieval town is a labyrinth of history, named after the Greek hero Eryx but built upon Phoenician foundations. I captured this view from the Pepoli Castle, a Saracen stronghold that offers a breathtaking look across the Gulf toward Monte Cofano. Standing there, surrounded by 60 ancient churches and the ruins of the Venus sanctuary, you feel the weight of centuries. My goal was to frame the pelagic vastness of the Mediterranean from this unique, eagle-eye perspective.
This work centers on mythological permanence. It captures the exact moment where the light isolates the vertical antiquity of the mountain, creating a sense of coastal observation. The treatment emphasizes the analytical sharpness of the jagged peaks and distant shoreline, turning a historic Sicilian vantage point into a monumental horizontal study of geography and time.
Media: Museum-grade Aluminium Dibond.
The Matte Finish Advantage: To preserve the chromatic harmony and the subtle atmospheric layers of the 750-meter altitude, this work is produced on Aluminium Dibond with a Premium Matte Finish. This ensures that the hazy blues of the distant horizon and the crisp textures of the mountain ridges remain sharp and immersive, avoiding any distracting glare from interior lighting.
